Romance Readers - STEM Romance In-Person
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math: the very model of a modern romance. From historical romances with women scientists and rogue dukes in the Victorian times to contemporary doctoral candidate lab partners, these romances are a bit like Bunsen burners: lots of flames.
For this meeting, read a STEM Romance (or 2!) and come prepared to discuss how it fits within the Romance Genre! Get your STEM on with these sciencey novels for non-scientists.
According to the Romance Writers of America, there are two basic elements of every romance novel: a central love story and an emotionally satisfying and optimistic ending [RWA]. Beyond that, anything goes, from the setting to the tropes. Romance novels can be set in Victorian times, or modern times. They can be sweet, or extremely spicy.
This group reads a book of their choice, based on the suggested theme/trope/subgenre. This allows our members to read what they enjoy, while also branching outside their comfort zone, just a little.
