Romance Readers - Holiday Romance In-Person
This group reads a book of their choice, based on the suggested theme/trope/subgenre. This allows our members to read what they enjoy, while also branching outside their comfort zone, just a little. For this meeting, read a Highland Romance (or 2!) and come prepared to discuss how it fits within the Romance Genre! What's more romantic than long nights, firelight, and watching it snow with someone special? Keep yourself warm with one of these romances that evoke winter's seasonal fun and holiday cheer! (-NoveList). Not all Holiday Romances feature Christmas; though that is one of the most common winter holidays in this subgenre
According to the Romance Writers of America, there are two basic elements of every romance novel: a central love story and an emotionally satisfying and optimistic ending [RWA]. Beyond that, anything goes, from the setting to the tropes. Romance novels can be set in Victorian times, or modern times. They can be sweet, or extremely spicy.
