Romance Readers - Romantasy In-Person
Forget what you know about traditional book groups: instead of reading the same book and discussing it, we're going to be reading a book that has the same theme. For Romance Readers, it will be a subgenre/trope of the large Romance Genre. Popular romance subgenres include Regency Romance, Cowboy Romance, Paranormal Romance, Christian Romance, and Dark Romance. For this meeting, read a Romantasy (or 2!) and come prepared to discuss how it fits within the Romance Genre! Although hardly a new genre, romantasy is having a moment right now. Combining romance and fantasy, the hybrid often includes high fantasy elements and worldbuilding entwined with a compelling romance between the book’s central characters. However, romantasy also expands to romance with paranormal or other fantasy elements that are more grounded in a realistic world (PRH).
